Courses In This Curriculum

ONEder Academy’s Social-Emotional Learning Curriculum was designed as a blended solution to give educators the flexibility to implement the program in a variety of settings. Our courses align to the 5 Core Competencies identifies by CASEL (The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning).

Discovering Self-Awareness

In this course, students will learn to identify their own personal strengths and needs as well as learn about their own emotions.

Building Social Awareness

Students will build social awareness skills by identifying and understanding emotions.

Developing Self-Management

Students will build self-management skills by identifying and understanding emotions.

Responsible Decision-Making

In this course, students will understand how to make decisions, their impact and consequences. In addition, students will learn about ethics, social norms, and expectations.

Growing Healthy Relationships

In this course, students will learn about norms and expectation for healthy relationships with friends, family, and colleagues. This course also focuses on bullying and self-advocacy.

Outcomes

Research suggests that students with explicit SEL instruction perform better in school, better on tests, and have fewer behavioral incidents.  While educators are aware of the benefits of SEL, time and budgetary constraints as well as lack of training and support make it hard to implement day to day. ONEder’s Social-Emotional Learning Curriculum is here to change that!

Our SEL Curriculum was designed for all students at the high school grade level. The online components of this course empower students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to choose their accommodations, and Translation is enabled for English language learners. Course content was written at the 700 Lexile level, and was designed to be used as a foundation that educators can easily differentiate using the suggestions from the Teacher Guide. The combination of ONEder Academy’s online learning coupled with course-specific differentiation strategies enables educators to meet the unique needs of all their students.

Research Base

Studies show that social-emotional learning helps students in a number of ways. According to the National Education Association, SEL helps students to, “achieve better academic performance, improve [their] attitudes and behaviors, decrease negative behavior, and reduce emotional stress.”

All five courses are aligned to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and Texas Essential Knowledge Skills (TEKS).  ONEder Academy’s SEL Curriculum was informed by several evidence-based best practices.
